Sign-on bonus
This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of $450. Sign-on bonuses are prorated based on hours scheduled. Current team members or former team members employed by North Memorial Health, Maple Grove Health or Blaze Health in the last six (6) months are not eligible to receive a sign on bonus. Sign-on bonuses have a repayment commitment, and a prorated repayment is required if the commitment is not fulfilled.

About this position
The Nutrition Services Aide is responsible for assisting in the presentation of customer meals and ensuring timely, efficient and professional delivery of customer meal trays. The Nutrition Service Aide is also responsible for ensuring proper cash handling procedures, assisting guests, replenishing and cleaning items in the café, preparing and serving food and beverages. Actively and consistently demonstrates the mission, vision, values and guiding principles of Maple Grove Hospital.
What we’ll expect from you
1. Meets with customers to review new or changed diet orders, provides diet information, distributes specific diet menus, and explains the process for placing meal orders. 2. Assists in the preparation of customer meal service including tray assembly, tray delivery and pickup, special requests, and other customer needs. 3. Assists with taking customer menu selection; maintains knowledge of menu and beverage items. 4. Prepares in-between meal nourishments, floor stock, and cold food preparation as needed. 5. Records meal intake information such as percent of meal consumed. 6. Assists with dish washing, food line clean up, trash removal, general sanitation of kitchen areas and nutrition alcoves. 7. Sets up Kitchen for following shift. 8. Practices proper infection control and food safety standards; including but not limited to, hand-washing and personal hygiene. 9. Assists in the opening and closing of the cafeteria by preparing for service before and after meals. 10. Actively replenishes café items for guest availability, such as napkins, utensils, food items, etc. 11. Accurately handles cash and/or credit card transactions; adheres to hospital cash handling policies and procedures. 12. Maintains proper security of cash at all times. 13. Assists with food preparation such as replenishing salad bar ingredients, making pudding and yogurt cups, etc. 14. Educates and informs customers about the differences among coffee beans, coffee preparation and brewing methods. 15. Prepares and serves beverage items consistently, such as coffee, lattes, etc., by adhering to all recipe standards. 16. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for infection prevention and food safety. 17. Recognizes and complies with legal regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility. 18. Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in Maple Grove Hospital's Code of Conduct. 19. Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties. 20. Reports violations or areas of concern to leader or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

Education
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred. • Must be 16 years of age.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• 1 year of experience in the food service industry preferred. • Barista experience preferred. • Cashier experience preferred. • Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations. • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely, both in written and oral form, in a manner appropriate to the audience. • Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict in a positive manner. Has an awareness of, responds to, and considers the needs, feelings and capabilities of others. • Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations. • Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer. • Effective planning, organizational and detail-oriented skills. • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards. • Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.

Hours per two week pay period: 36
Shift: Evenings 5 Hours
Scheduled Shift: 4:00P- 9:00P
